CRITICAL TIME IN THE SEASON WITH BACK TO BACK RACES!
ALGONAC, MICHIGAN TO REPLACE HARTFORD ON SCHEDULE!

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – July 24, 2008 – The next two weeks are going to play a pivotal part of the 2008 F1-ChampBoat Series championship as the schedule has been altered and has forced the drivers to dig deep with two back to back weekend events in the month of August going a long way to determine this years champion.

Michael Schriefer, President of the F1-ChampBoat Series, has announced today that he has replaced the scheduled 17th of August event in Hartford, Connecticut with a new and exciting weekend in Alganac, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit, headed up by ex-racer Tom D’Eath.
The one-time “Miss Budweiser” driver is planning on bringing multiple classes of boats on the St. Clair River from the offshore variety to inboards for a weekend of high energy on water. This is perfect local for all persons living in the Southeastern part of Michigan and Southwestern Ontario who are true fans of powerboat racing and make up such a large following of the sport.

“We are truly excited about having Tom join our family as promoter of this great event,” said Michael. “Tom really understands this sport since he is a 30 year veteran of powerboat racing. If you remember, he helped save the famous “Gold Cup” race in Detroit a few years back and now that he’s retired, continues to occupy his time with putting together great events such as this weekend of racing on the 9th and 10th of August.”

The payoff for the drivers is a worthwhile one. The weekend should draw a large field of F1-ChampBoat drivers with more monies being allocated for teams to help with the high cost of travel.

“We are planning on putting together one whale of an event,” said Tom. “I love to put not only on a great show for the fans, but make the drivers feel right at home here on the St. Clair River.”

The event in Hartford on the Connecticut River was cancelled this year mainly due to a problem associated with sponsor related discussions for the title holders of the event. The F1-ChampBoat family would like to wish everyone at the Riverfront Recapture group only the best for a successful 2008 program and hopes of returning to the capital city of Connecticut in the near future.

Now its on to St. Louis next weekend for the 37th Annual Bud Light St. Louis Grand Prix on the 2nd and 3rd and then one week later and 634 miles away the race in Alganac, Michigan and a 2nd trip to the “Wolverine” state in the 2008 season. Can Miami, Florida driver Shaun Torrente keep his perfect season alive having won the first 3 straight races of the year, or will others including hometown hero Tim Seebold win it for Bud Light and get back into the championship in a big way. Stay tuned.
